Virginia City Convention and TourismAuthority, along with the Chamber of Commerce, produce numerous fun andexciting events every year. Parades and special activities and eventsare full of fun and excitement for adults and children alike.

StoreyCounty’s rich history dates back over 150 years to a time whentransportation was horse drawn and the West was known as a rugged placewhere rags turned to riches. Because of the incredible richesdiscovered in the hills of Storey County, this area was a major drawfor poor folks hoping to strike it rich and socialites hoping to geteven richer. Once the Comstock began producing one of the largest goldand silver discoveries at that time, and accordingly,multi-millionaires, Virginia City became a cosmopolitan city.

Residents here wanted the town to reflecttheir new found wealth so grand pianos, beautiful chandeliers, ornatewallpaper and the finest furnishings were brought over the ruggedterrain of the Sierra Mountain Range from places near and far includingEurope and San Francisco.
